Distribution of Diaulula odonoghuei in British Columbia in British Columbia

Introduction


The nudibranch Diaulula sandiegensis has been split via morphology and genetics into two species that overlap in southern BC. The northern species is the spotted or leopard nudibranch, Diaulula odonoghuei (Steinberg. 1963). It is the common species found intertidally. True Diaulula sandiegensis is called the ringed dorid and is almost exclusively subtidal in the northern portion of its range. The maps for both species show the same distribution because the databases are not yet updated.
